During la reconquista, one order to charge was, "Santiago y adelante!!" And, the Aztec and Inca heard it in the New World.
Like the ranting of the pipes, it was both prayer and incitement to desperate valor.
One can feel it rippling down the line as brave men brace for the precipitous assault.

The John Stoye book, "The Siege of Vienna" is the de facto definitive account in English and really the first modern account in English on the battle and it is one awesome read! That battle witnessed the last great trial of strength between the Cross and the Crescent until the morning of Septermber 11, A.D. 2001 and today!
