There is no Feast in the Traditional Roman Calendar for today, but it is the Feast of Christ the King and the Mass of the Sunday takes precedence.
The Mediæval Saints of the Day are St. Marcellus the Centurion, Martyr and Blessed Benvenuta Bojani, V.

On this day:
AD 1270, The Seventh Crusade ends by the Treaty of Barbary. Saint Louis IX, King of France led this expedition. He died near Tunis on 25 August AD 1270, breaking the back of the Crusade. Let us invoke him daily in our battle with the jihadists!
AD 1905, The tsar of Russia issues the October Manisfesto, granting civil liberties and elections in an attempt to avert the burgeoning support for revolution. The reds were determined to make a revolution! Nothing the tsar could have done would have derailed from their attack on European Civilisation!
AD 1981, Euthanasia chief jailed over suicides. The secretary of the UK's pro-euthanasia group Exit is sentenced to two and a half years for aiding and abetting suicide. My question is, «Would this happen today?»
AD 1984, Father Jerzy Popieluszko, an outspoken supporter of Poland's banned trade union, is found dead 11 days after he was kidnapped. The red's were determined to keep pwer, but the Polish People, strengthened by their Catholic Faith, prevailed!
