France, The US's Oldest Ally?

Don't get me wrong. I carry France in my heart as a Second Homeland, but it is the pays reèl that I love, it is historic France, rural France, the France that still lives in the millions of French hearts that is opposed totally, root and branch to the Revolution and all its fruits.

France is often referred to as the US's «oldest ally», because of her support for the American Revolution.
