Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows

A week ago we celebrated our dear Mother's Birthday. Today we celebrate her Sorrows. Remember them? There are Seven:

1) The Prophesy of Simeon over the Infant Jesus (St Luke, 2:34, 35

2) The Flight of the Holy Family into Egypt.(St Matthew 2:13-21)

3) The Loss of the Child Jesus for Three Days. (St Luke 2:41-51)

4) The Meeting of Jesus & Mary Along the Way of the Cross. (St Luke 23:27-31)

5) Mary Watches Jesus Suffer and Die upon the Cross.(St John 19:25-27)

6) Mary Receives the Body of Jesus Taken Down from the Cross. (St Matthew 27:55-61)

7) Mary Watches as the Body of Jesus is Buried in a Tomb. (St Luke 23: 55-56)

Let us pray.
O God, in whose passion the sword of grief did pierce the gentle soul of the glorious Virgin Mary, thy Mother, that so might be fulfilled the word of thy Prophet Simeon : mercifully grant that we who here do call to mind her sorrows ; may be fulfilled with the blessed fruits of thy passion. Who livest and reignest with the Father.
