Archbishop of Izmir, Turkey on the "Religion of Peace"

It would be beneficial if Archbishop Giuseppe Germano Bernardini, O.F.M. Cap., Izmir, Turkey could have his paper, which follows, read. It is among those that were NOT read in the Synod Hall in Nov, 1999.

DIFFICULTIES OF DIALOGUE WITH ISLAM Archbishop Giuseppe Germano Bernardini, O.F.M. Cap., Izmir, Turkey

I have been living in Turkey for the past 42 years, a 99.9 per cent Muslim country, and I have been the Archbishop of Izmir in Asia Minor for the past 16 years. The theme of my intervention is therefore obvious: the problem of Islam in Europe today and in the future. I thank Bishop Pelatre, who already spoke about this theme in this prestigious assembly, dispensing me therefore of a long examination and relative interpretations.

My intervention is to make a humble request of the Holy Father, above all. To be brief and clear, first I will mention three cases that, due to their sources, I believe to be true..

1. During an official meeting on Islamic-Christian dialogue, an authoritative Muslim person, speaking to the Christians participating, at one point said very calmly and assuredly: "Thanks to your democratic laws we will invade you; thanks to our religious laws we will dominate you."
This is to be believed because the "domination" has already begun with the "petrodollars" used not to create work in the poor North African or Middle Eastern countries, but to build mosques and cultural centres in Christian countries with Islamic immigrants, including Rome, the centre of Christianity. How can we fail to see in all this a clear program of expansion and reconquest?

2. During another Islamic Christian meeting, always organized by Christians, a Christian participant publicly asked the Muslims present why they did not organize at least one meeting of this kind. The Muslim authority present answered in the following words: "Why should we? You have nothing to teach us and we have nothing to learn."
A dialogue between deaf persons? It is a fact that terms such as "dialogue" and "justice", "reciprocity", or, concepts such as "rights of man" and "democracy" have a completely different meaning for Muslims than for us.

3. In a Catholic monastery in Jerusalem there was and perhaps still is, a Muslim Arab servant. A kind and honest person, he was respected greatly by the religious, who in turn were respected by him. One day, he sadly told them: "Our leaders have met and have decided that all the infidels' must be killed: but do not be afraid because I will kill you without making you suffer." We are all aware that we must distinguish the fanatic and violent minority from the tranquil and honest majority, but the latter, at an order given in the name of Allah or the Koran, will always march in unity and without hesitation...........History teaches us that determined minorities always manage to impose themselves on reluctant and silent majorities.

It would be naive to underestimate or, worse yet, smile at the three cases I have mentioned: I feel that their dramatic teaching must be seriously considered.

This is not pessimism on my part.....The Christian cannot be pessimistic because Christ is risen and alive; He is God, unlike any other prophet or one claiming to be such.............(........=leave outs)

I end this exhortation suggested to me by experience: do not allow Muslims ever to use a Catholic church for their worship, because in their eyes this would be the surest proof of our apostasy"

The Papal Master of Cermonies Speaks Out

An interesting read. It sounds like, according to Archbishop Marini, all of us who attend the Mass of the Ages (as well as all Eastern Rite Catholics!) are "outside the Church"! From Rorate Cæli (the link in the title wrorks).

Premature babies are 'blocking beds'

The fruit of the loss of our Holy Faith! Now they want to "discuss" allowing preemies to die, because these helpless children take up hospital room!

  • The Times
  • Europe (and the rest of the West) are cotracepting/aborting themselves out of existence!

In Europe 2.1 children per woman is considered to be the population replacement level. These are national averages (From EuroStat-2004)
    Ireland: 1.99
    France: 1.90
    Norway: 1.81
    Sweden 1.75
    UK: 1.74
    Netherlands: 1.73
    Germany: 1.37
    Italy: 1.33
    Spain: 1.32
    Greece: 1.29

Note that Ireland and France, traditionally Catholic with profamily policies are almost replacing themselves. Then come the protestant countries. The frightening thing is that Germany, with a large minority of Catholics, "Catholic" Italy and Spain and Orthodox Greece bring up the rear!

    Some Thoughts

I'm doing something here I very seldom do. I'm actually writing a post!, instead of simply a short intro to a link.

Anyway, a few months ago, I broke down and got cable TV so that I could watch something more edifying than what passes for entertainment today. As Easter approached, I noticed a plethora of programmes, dealing with religious themes, on such channels as Discovery/Times, History, History International and Biography. Being the man I am, of course, I watched!

I was horrified! On one level, I've known for years that our Holy Faith and the Græco-Roman Catholic Civilisation and Culture to which It gave rise, were under attack. But on another level, I did not realise how serious the attack was. I had assumed, naively, that the brunt of the attack was coming from the usual suspects, "Hollywood" and patently anti-Christian groups like Planned Parenthood, Americans United, People for the American Way and the Free Masons.

Imagine my surprise as I watched programme after programme, presented under the guise of serious, educational programming attack the doctrines of the Faith. I learned that our Blessed Mother did not miraculously conceive our Lord by the Holy Ghost! I learned that She did not remain a Virgin and that, indeed, our Lord had several full blood brothers and sisters! I could go on and on, but you get the general idea.

These programmes were presented by academics, with copious interviews with other academics, many of them priests, nuns or professors at "Catholic" Universities. It was all done in an "oh, so serious" style, such that a non-Catholic or the average badly catechised NO Catholic would accept it as the absolute "scientific" truth.

I realise now that our task is much more serious than I had imagined. It is not just the political effects of the Revolution that we must combat and its influences in the MSM (in which I include "Hollywood" as well as the news media) and in the normal educational field, but also in what we might call "continuing education for the masses".

I have no suggestions beyond monitoring, protesting to advertisers and the networks responsible and counteracting on a personal level if an acquaintance mentions one of the programmes, but I'm, here, making a call for further ideas. In 1991, I was privileged to be a speaker at the Catholic Voice International conference in Chicago (remember that great weekend, Sir Charles & Roy?). The opening speaker said, "The Counter Revolution begins now!" In the ensuing 15 years, we have obviously lost a great deal of ground. Let's begin retaking it!

In closing, there was one bright spot. There is an Egyptologist who teaches at a public university (his name escapes me) who has done a long series of programmes on Egypt (obviously!). I call him the "enthusiastic Egyptologist", because he so obviously enjoys his subject. Off topic for a change (and a little off season for Easter!) he did a programme on the Three Kings. After a reasoned and good exegesis of the Scriptural passages dealing with them, in which he pointed out for example that that they are not called Kings in the Scripture and their is no mention of how many they were, he went on to accept the Tradition of the Church as reasonable! He discussed how Tradition had always shown them of varying ages, etc. And at the end of his presentation, having examined the skulls preserved in their reliquary in the Cathedral of Cologne, showing scientifically that they belonged to men of different ages, he came to the scientific conclusion that there was no scientific reason that the relics preserved there could not be the skulls of Balthasar, Gaspar and Melchior!

Bishop Hails PM's Wife as a Role Model

God, what would His Excellency say if he met a Catholic woman? Mrs Blair consorts with mediums, consults astrolgers and insults our Holy Father by ignoring Vatican protocol. This is a rolé model?!

Of course, she not only insults our Holy Father, she also insults her Queen!

"The Bishop of Leeds, the Right Rev Arthur Roche has labelled the Prime Minister's wife, Cherie Blair, a Catholic role model after their (paths?) crossed in Rome recently when they were both at the English College there. The bishop was delighted she had the chance to speak to students there about their contribution to the work of the Church in Britain and thank them for it. Bishop Arthur said it was a great chance to exchange ideas with a prominent Catholic and fantastic role model." From "The Universe", 05.V.06

Today, I sent the following email to His Excellency. If he answers, I'll let you know.

    Your Excellency,

I have to ask, are there any Catholic women in your diocese? The question is prompted by your referring to Mrs Blair as a "Catholic role model." Mrs Blair practises witchcraft, consults mediums, insults HM the Queen by refusing to curtsey and arrogates to herself the privileges of a Catholic Queen during a visit to our Holy Father and she is a role model?!?!

Asking Your Excellency's Episcopal blessing, I am,

  • Rome: "No To Condom Use!"

Anytime a neo-protestant, neo-pagan, modernist "Catholic" of any standing makes a statement, the secular press and their heterodox "catholic" lapdogs announce that Rome is changing the teaching of the Church. Here's the staight scoop on the latest, brought on by Cardinal Martini's endorsement of condom use by HIV infected married couples.

  • The "Religion Of Peace" Strikes Again!

While I in no way support the unrepentant sodomite agenda and believe that all sodomitic acts should be criminalised, I think that lynch-law capital punishment is a bit over the top. However, what can one expect of the gutter "religion of peace"?

  • Iraqi police 'killed 14-year-old boy for being homosexual'
  • Fertilty Insanity

This is what comes of ignoring our Holy Church's Teachings and treating a child as an object to which one has a "right". This elderly woman and her equally elderly husband will die, orphaning their unfortunate child before he or she is grown! But of course, in our modern world there are no "duties", only "rights".

  • Fertility doctor defends decision
  • More Insanity In The Anglican Sect

The Anglicans are set to select a new "Bishop" of California, a "diocese" centered on the unrepentant sodomite capitol of the world, San Francisco (The Holy Poverello must be shedding tears of grief and supplication before the Heavenly Throne!). Since the choices include two male unrepentant sodomites and a lesbian, one can quess how the voting will go. This may be the final straw in the destruction of the Anglican "Communion". Of interest is the comment of the pagan, Shelby Spong, retired "bishop" of Newark, New Jersey: "There's not a scientist in the world today who supports the idea that homosexuals are mentally ill or morally depraved," said Spong, a noted author and outspoken church leader on the subject. "So I'd rather see the church split. I have no desire to be a part of a homophobic church." My response to this collared layman is, "Since when do scientists make moral judgements?"

    Burning Heretics

With thanks to our bon ami, the knight4mary:

"The only way to argue with a blasphemer is by running your sword through his bowels, as far as it will go."

St. Louis IX, King of France

"I entirely detest heretics, and as Magistrate do promise assiduously to perform my duty in investigating them. Heresy is a kind of treason, and if a heretic persisteth in his false belief, he may be handed over to be burned."

    St. Thomas More

"If heretics be altogether uprooted by death, this is not contrary to Our Lord's command."

    St. Thomas Aquinas

"Error will never be suppressed unless the criminal elements of depravity be consumed in flames."

    Pope Clement XII

"That it is against the will of the Spirit to burn heretics at the stake is condemned as false." Pope Leo X

"Even if my own father were a heretic, I would gather the wood to burn him at the stake."

    Pope Paul IV

"With regard to heretics, two arguments must be observed: one concerning themselves, the other from the aspect of the Church. On their own side, there is the sin whereby they deserve to be separated from the Church by excommunication, but also to be severed from the world by death. For it is a much more serious matter to corrupt the faith which gives life to the soul than to counterfeit that which supports temporal life. Wherefore, if counterfeiters and other evil-doers are immediately condemned to death by the secular authorities, there is much more reason for heretics, as soon as they are convicted of heresy, not only to be excommunicated but even put to death. On the part of the Church, however, there is mercy, which looks to the conversion of the wanderer; wherefore, she condemns not at once, but "after the first and second warning", as the Apostle directs (Titus 3:10). After that, if he is still stubborn, the Church, no longer hoping for his conversion, looks to the salvation of others by excommunicating him and separating him from the Church; and, furthermore, she delivers him over to the secular tribunal, thereby to be exterminated from the world by death."

    St. Thomas Aquinas
